4. Expectations
Welcome to step 4, which focuses on how expectations affect you.
Expectations, both of yourself and others, can often lead to disappointment and negative emotions if they are not met. When your own expectations are not fulfilled, it can create challenging emotions that capture your attention and amplify frustration.
Expectations from others
Others may also have expectations of you, but it is up to you to decide whether or not to meet them. Although saying no may feel uncomfortable, especially if you fear how others might react, it is essential to respect your own boundaries.
If you constantly stretch yourself too far to meet others’ expectations, you may end up feeling dissatisfied and exhausted.
