Focus on discomfort and emotions
Discomfort is often closely tied to our emotional reactions. Muscle and joint stiffness can also occur when we’re worried or tense. When the body signals discomfort, it can be helpful to reflect on what you were thinking or feeling at the time.
What triggered the discomfort?
Was it a difficult situation or perhaps a conversation you were dreading?
When you experience discomfort, use the StopStress Exercise to identify what’s triggering it.
Focus on what feels uncomfortable and face the fear associated with it. Practice this until the fear subsides, both now and in future situations.
